Fashion photoshoot behind the scenes

A new decade has started which makes a lot of us reflect on what happened during the last one. My last decade really didn’t go as I thought it would and for most of the second half of it I was completely lost with my photography and scared of failing to the point where I couldn’t create almost anything. But it did start really well and promising with me doing some of my favorite/most loved shoots I’ve ever done that made me actually want to become a professional photographer. So since I don’t always share my backstage shots from my shoots, I thought it would be really nice to remind my self what I loved so much about shooting and creating back then. This is a blog post with some of my fashion photoshoot behind the scenes.

All the fun and smiles we had, a lot of walking (and falling) through the mud in the forests… Actually I found so many behind the scenes shots that I’ll have to make another blog post to cover it, these pictures are from 2010 to 2013 only. Hopefully you enjoy seeing a little glimpse of what’s been going on behind the final images, do let me know what you think and if you want to see more behind the scenes in the future.

Burn our Souls, Release the Wicked (fashion shoot behind the scenes)

This photoshoot was definitely what kickstarted me wanting to do photography for the rest of my life. My shoots almost never go exactly as planned, but this was pretty much all I wanted it to be. I loved that whole day and I’ve never had another shoot blow up as much either. Also it came before every single photographer has done a flower crown shoot….. You can see the whole final photoshoot on my blog here.

It was hilarious trying to get a good shot while they were spinning in a circle (keep in mind I clearly didn’t even know my camera well yet…) which resulted in this fall in the gif below.

Sinking like a Siren that can’t sing no more

The amount of times that someone tried to be hilarious and got in our shots while shooting throughout all these years…. Ok I don’t know exactly, but MANY times. Many. You can see the full blog post here and here.

Another thing that happens in shoots all the time is having to adjust the dresses. In the shots below Ieva brought her mother’s long vintage dress that didn’t look good at all so we made it our own. The blog post is here.

Tree of Knowledge

This was one of the first shoots I did with Gintare, we’ve done so many! I loved working with her for so many years and basically capture her growing up (and all of you loved her too). The blog post images for this particular shoot are here.

Crowns and Roses

Another one of my girls in flowers in a forest photoshoots. We had many funny moments doing this one as well, as the whole forest was SUPER muddy, you couldn’t even see all the mud under all the old leaves, so my shoots were constantly deep in mud. It was a lot of climbing, so someone falling at some point was inevitable. ;D

Mist Traveler

Another mystical themed photoshoot with a few girls in a misty forest. If you’ve not used smoke bombs before you might not realize how difficult it is to shoot with them – it’s really unpredictable where it’s going to go and how intense the smoke will be, most of them last super short time as well, so you only have a second or so to get a shot you like. And sometimes it goes wrong, the second picture is still one of the most hilarious. ;D

Silent Drifters

This photoshoot was quite a disaster on how it was going – it was super cold winter day, it was drizzling/snowing for most of it so the models were getting wet and we only had a few hours of daylight… Another one where we were climbing through the mud the whole way through. And yet I did get some images I liked and it came out in a magazine. You can see the final shots here.

London is drowning and I live by the river

And then I moved to London. My work definitely shifted a lot because of that. And there were many reasons, but mostly that I was in such a huge city with many unique locations I started featuring city as a background way more than the forests of before. There aren’t many forest like locations here as well and I felt like I already shot too much of the same thing even though I did love it then. This is a shoot with Maria who I knew from Lithuania in Camden Town and as you can see we had so much fun.

silent mermaids climbed the trees

Tasha was one of my favorite people (and model) back in uni years, we shot this shoot literally behind our uni halls. And, being London, of course it was raining.

Briar Rose

My first blogger shoot! I loved Megan’s style and her for awhile until I had a chance to shoot her in London. See the full shoot here.

Play Along

A little test turned editorial on an online magazine which I shot back in Lithuania.

Don’t Deliver Us From Evil

Editorial for Coco Magazine shot in Lithuania trying to go back to my winning formula, which I still loved and had fun doing. Full series here.

moon kissed sister, spill your glitter

A shoot for uni shot mid winter had some more smoke bombs incidents – sensitive eyes tear up if the smoke goes too close. Shoot results can be seen here.

I Cried a River Over You

A little editorial for Haunt magazine, first time working with amazing agency Storm models. You can see the full shoot on my blog.

Reckless Serenade

The thing is, I know people loved my dreamy/magical shoots with girls in a forest, BUT I never wanted to get stuck and keep doing the same thing, when shoots like the one below are SO MUCH FUN. Just running around/climbing on things and exploring and laughing. This editorial for C-Heads magazine can be seen here.

Moonborn

One the dreamiest shoots I’ve ever done and loved was Moonborn for Pony Anarchy Magazine.

Lily of the Valley of Death

A collab with one of my favorite brands Miss Patina for one of my favorite magazines back then Material Girl. It was shot in winter even if it doesn’t look it much as we lucked out with some glorious weather.

To end the shoot we went around on marry-go-round when a random kid really wanted to swing Ellie and kept her spinning. It was really adorable and funny.

Autumn is Forever

A test shoot with Elena, Italian model who was visiting London. Final shoots in a post here and here.
