Corfu 35mm film diary

Corfu (Kerkyra) 35mm film travel diary by London photographer Ailera Stone

In September last year me and my boyfriend went to a holiday to Corfu island in Greece. So this blog post is a Corfu 35mm film diary. I wanted to chill and read at the beach, as I usually end up tired after my holidays. (Festivals or tourist stuff usually…) And I did get to relax, so it was a lovely time. I only took some pictures on my point and shoot film camera as it was beautiful.

Moraitika

We stayed in a little village called Moraitika really near the beach. The weather was still amazing and the people there were the nicest ever. For example the owners kept giving us little things as presents in the local shop and chat each day.

Our main concern was that we’re both vegan, but we actually did fine and a lot of places had at least something. (I’m not very picky). And in worst case scenario a lot of the Greek appetizers can actual be vegan. There was even a really nice vegetarian/vegan place in the main square of the capital of Corfu/Kerkyra, where we tried a lot of things. I think it’s called Aubergine. They had veganized traditional meals we couldn’t try otherwise and deserts/ice cream too.

 Kerkyra

A few days we didn’t stay in our local beach – we went to the city for sightseeing. It was one of the reasons we wanted to go to Corfu. The town is really nice and old and there are a few palaces/castles and other things to see. We had some beers and Aperol spritzes with some amazing views to the sea.

Paleokastritsa

Honestly being on the quad was really scary for me (I wouldn’t ever get on a motorbike as cool as I always thought they are). Just feels so unsafe and open and vulnerable when you’re used to a car. The roads were super winding and narrow and some went through a bit of mountains. And everyone else in their cars drove crazy fast on those roads. Even if we went at the highest speed our quad would manage, cars would still try to go around us and beep etc. But it was really worth it as it was an easiest way to go to Paleokastritsa town which was one of the prettiest places I’ve visited. That beach was super cute and the water super blue.
