Autumn / Winter 35mm film diary

35mm film diary and writing by Ailera Stone

I’m back with another 35mm film diary post. This time it’s mostly from Autumn / Winter 2018 film diary (there’s a bit of end of summer as well).
Back then I started to carry a point and shoot camera with me. I really wanted to shoot everything around me (though honestly I still didn’t shoot as much as I wanted…)

All of these were shot on my Canon AF35m point and shoot which I had for a few years. It was one of the cheapest you could get on ebay. (And still is, with prices getting more and more inflated on the more popular 35mm film cameras.) I don’t really like the camera much as it has mishaps once in a while (like randomly severely underexposing in BRIGHT daylight, or missing the focus). I also kept trying to take closeups of things, but this cameras minimum focal range is really far away. However it does the job as a cheap everyday camera and I have done some shots I actually liked and that surprised me.

Let me know what film camera you have or want to get and also let me know what you think of it’s format, I included a tiny bit of my writing again too.

You can see my other 35mm film diary posts here.

  1. One of my biggest goals this year is to try tilm photography, and this post makes me want to learn even more! It just seems so intimidating to start. But in any case, I love this post. The way you formatted it is beautiful, and the photos are of course just lovely!

    1. Thank you so much Kailey, somehow missed this comment before, but always appreciate you so much!
      Let me know if you pick up film and how you get on! One of the best parts about these simple point and shoot cameras that you definitely shouldn’t be intimidated and just go for it, as it’s super easy to use and can be so much fun! It’s not amazing quality anyway, so you’ve got nothing to lose really just trying it and shooting lots of random things to experiment etc. :}}}

  2. Omg I love these shots!! I agree the way you formatted these are pretty cool. I might take that idea lol. And you’re vegan too same here. I got my first film camera during the pandemic and I love it, its so fun. I’m in the Bay Area currently for school and was thinking of just making a blog of all my 35mm shots of downtown or cool vegan spots. ❤️
